SYDNEY, Australia - Gains were recorded across the board on Asian bourses on Tuesday, despite a downward day, a day earlier in the U.S.
The Nikkei 225 in Japan added 212.53 points or 0.99% to 21,587.78.
In China, the Shanghai Composite rose 8.38 points or 0.29% to 2,913.57.
The Hong Kong Sang Seng jumped 85.69 points or 0.33% to 25,906.72.
The Australian All Ordinaries climbed 27.00 points or 0.40% to 6,713.70.
The euro rose to1.0981 on forex markets in Asia on Tuesday. The British pound drifted down to 1.2286.
The Japanese yen was slightly stronger at 107.13. The Swiss franc firmed to 0.9930.
The Canadian dollar was stronger at 1.3304.
The Australian dollar edged higher to 0.6746. The New Zealand dollar strengthened to 0.6311.
Overnight on Wall Street, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 95.7 points, or 0.36%, at 26,478.02.
The Standard and Poor's 500 ,fell 13.22 points, or 0.45%, to 2,938.79.
The Nasdaq Composite declined 26.18 points, or 0.33%, to 7,956.29.
