LG is leader in Mexico's 3D TV market

Asia Bulletin (IANS) Wednesday 8th February, 2012

South Korean consumer products giant LG Electronics was the leader last year in Mexico's high-end television market with its 3D models, followed closely by Japan's Sony, the Yonhap news agency reported Wednesday.

LG Electronics had a 33 percent share of the market for 3D televisions in Mexico in 2011, while Sony had a 32.6 percent share of the market and South Korea's Samsung Electronics had a 27.1 percent market share, Yonhap said, citing a report by research firm NPD.

LG Electronics, South Korea's No.2 manufacturer of electronics behind Samsung, expects to produce 6.5 million 3D television units in Mexico this year, or about 30 percent more units than last year, Yonhap said.

LG Electronics has set a goal of increasing its share of the global market for 3D televisions to more than 25 percent in 2012, making it No. 1 in the market.
